Ways to Give

Each year, thousands of girls are able to participate as Girl Scouts because of the generous financial support of people in Hawai`i.  Tax-deductible gifts to the Council help to:

  • Sponsor program enhancements, events, and activities for girls on all islands;
  • Create leadership and skill building training opportunities for girls;
  • Underwrite the costs for volunteer training;
  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of our statewide Headquarters, Service Centers and three camp properties:  Camp Paumalu (O`ahu), Camp Piiholo (Maui), and Camp Kilohana (Big Island); and
  • Make it possible for girls regardless of their personal circumstances to become Girl Scouts by offering financial assistance and scholarships.

Because of our charter agreement with our national organiziation, Girl Scouts of the USA, all resources donated to or raised by the Council remain within our control and are used for the sole purpose of serving girls living in Hawai`i.  The one exception is membership fees.  The fees collected by the Council are sent directly to our national office.

There are many ways you can help:

Girl Scouts of Hawai`i's `Ohana Circle
Family Giving Campaign

The `Ohana Circle is an annual family giving campaign in which we ask families of our Girl Scouts to make a contribution to the Girl Scouts of Hawai`i.  Families who are able to give, not only help to provide greater opportunites for their daughters, but also make it possible for other girls to benefit from the common experience of being Girl Scouts.

By families working together to support the efforts of all girls, we truly are able to help girls understand how to "make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout." [Girl Scout Law]

A donation to the `Ohana Circle can either be made when submitting a Girl Scout membership registration form by completing the "I would like to contribute" section or by printing the donation form and sending a donation directly to the Council.

Woman of Distinction Dinner

Every year Girl Scout councils across the nation pay tribute to women who personally and professionally exemplify the values articulated in the Girl Scout Promise and Law. We do so by recognizing women with the honor of “Woman of Distinction.”

In Hawaii, we celebrate the occasion by inviting community supporters to our “Woman of Distinction Dinner”, held every year in the fall.   We use the occasion to not only thank these women for being outstanding role models for girls but also to raise funds that are used to deliver the Girl Scout Program to girls statewide; elevate public awareness and support for the Girl Scout Program; and to create a situation in which our Girl Scouts and their families better understand how Girl Scouting is made possible through the generous support of others.
