Building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place

The Girl Scouts Leadership Experience

Sometimes referred to as the Girl Scout Movement, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a philosophy based on the fundamental principles articulated in the Girl Scout Promise and Law*.  We know a great leader is someone who understands their values; someone who uses their knowledge and skills to their potential; someone who cares about, inspires, and cooperates with others on a local and global scale; and someone who will stop at nothing to make the world a better place.  Here at Girl Scouts we believe such greatness cannot blossom without proper nurturing, which is exactly what the Girl Scout Movement is meant to do!

The Girl Scout Movement is centered around the three keys of leadership to ensure girls engage in carefully researched age appropriate goals:

  • Discover: Girls explore their unique set of values and skills
  • Connect: Girls learn to work in teams and relate to others in this multicultural world
  • Take Action: Girls set out to make a difference in the world

Comprehending these three keys will make remarkable leaders out of girls everywhere!  That is why we organize programs to reinforce these components and perpetuate the true value of Girl Scouting

Over time, the Girl Scout Movement will set girls on a life-long path to…

lead with courage when they speak out on issues they care about and take active roles in their communities;

lead with confidence when they make the most of their strengths and feel empowered to make a difference in their lives and beyond;

lead with character when they act with integrity and compassion, making decisions that promote the well-b eing of themselves and others;

...to make the world a better place.

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong,
and responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place,
and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
