Community First Aid/CPR Training (CFAS)

A group must have a person trained and certified in first aid on all outings (see Safety-Wise).  Any group participating in Group Camping must also have a person trained and certified in CPR for all camping activities.  You must attend the entire nine (9) hour class to be considered for both First Aid and CPR certification.  Be sure to bring lunch and/or snacks.

The Council does not offer a separate CPR class for renewal.  Participants must stay for the entire First Aid/CPR training.  There are other organizations within the community that offer only CPR.

Fee: $15.00 (includes class, ARC fees, supplies, use of book).  Payment must be made no less than two weeks before the class.  (Payments made by credit card will require an additional $1.00 service charge.)

Minimum students required for all training sessions: 6 with a maximum of 12. (Leaders will be given first preference.)  Please be on time so that the entire class may start.

OTHER COMMUNITY FIRST AID/CPR TRAININGS:

Safety-Wise states, “A Girl Scout first-aider is an adult who has taken Girl Scout council-approved first-aid and CPR training.  First aid is required of the adult acting as the primary first-aider for the Girl Scout group activities indicated in the activity checkpoints.”  Before planning any activity with a group, refer to the Activity Checkpoints in Safety-Wise.

Adults are welcome to take advantage of First Aid and/or CPR training and renewal courses through other organizations in their communities.  Page 37 in Safety-Wise provides a list of organizations and courses for First-Aid and CPR Training.  (Note:  The CPR training must be adequate for the participants in the activity covered by the first-aider: for example, child CPR for children younger than eight and adult CPR for older girls and adults)

If Service Units would like to coordinate trainings through a certified instructor or organization, for their leaders and parents, please let the Council know and we will try to assist you in your efforts.
