Going Beyond The Group Meeting

As stated in Chapter One of Safety-Wise, “As Girl Scout activities keep pace with an ever-changing world; health and safety remain cornerstones of the Girl Scout Movement.   Safety is planned and practiced by all members.   When Girl Scout members learn about safety, more activities are at their command.   When participants follow safe practices, they can feel relaxed and confident.   While total safety cannot be guaranteed, unnecessary risk can be reduced.”

Seeing that every program, trip, activity, and/or event is planned and implemented with the utmost regard for the physical and emotional safety, health and well-being of each girl is of paramount importance.  The Council recognizes that this responsibility, in order to be effective, must be shared among the participants—both girl and adult.  Thus, Leader training for groups going beyond the meeting place is essential.

The Council provides (3) trainings to prepare leaders to take their girls beyond the group meeting place.  They are 1) Group Travel Home-Study Training   2) Out and About – Beyond the Group Meeting and 3) Camping Hawaiian Style – TCT.  More information and schedules for training are given below for each of the trainings.
